Much of Cardiff’s modern-day railway network owes itself to the efforts of coal mining, which necessitated the use of railway lines through the valleys, and many lines spurred out from the soon-to-be Welsh capital and linked down to the docks.

With the passage of time, and a growing populous, the scene became much more passenger-orientated and today, the city area is known as the “Valleys & Cardiff Local Routes” – an urban network of lines operated by Transport for Wales.

In Train Sim World 5, sprint along Cardiff’s city area in Class 153 & 150 DMUs, recreating the final years of rattly diesel traction. With frequent stops and changing ends aplenty, feel the hwyl in TSW’s very first Welsh route.
