The Cromwell Mk. IV (Officially - Tank, Cruiser, Mk. VIII, A.27M, Cromwell, Mk. IV) was one of the most successful and versatile British cruiser tanks of World War II. It was crucial for British armoured reconnaissance, and saw extensive combat starting with the Normandy campaign in 1944. The Mk IV variant represented a significant upgrade, replacing the earlier low-velocity 75mm main gun with the more powerful, dual-purpose Ordnance Q.F. 75mm gun, allowing it to fire both high-explosive and anti-tank rounds effectively.
