The West Coast Main Line was built by many smaller companies during the birth of the railways, and the oldest section of the route was the Grand Junction Railway which ran from Birmingham to Crewe.

In the following years since its opening in 1837, the line played a strategic role in the development of the industrial Black Country and saw a boom in traffic, becoming a vital section of the WCML - Britain’s busiest main line.

In Train Sim World, become a driver or conductor aboard commuter services along the central section of the WCML during the 2019 era.
