Introduced in 2001 to add a modern fleet to the recently electrified network sprawling out of Leeds and Bradford, a total of 16 Class 333s revolutionised service on the Airedale & Wharfedale lines. Originally delivered as 3-car units, they were quickly extended to 4 to maximise capacity on some of Northern England’s busiest commuter services.
