Washington Dulles International Airport (IATA: IAD , ICAO: KIAD , FAA LID: IAD ) – located 26 miles (42 km) west of downtown Washington, D.C. Commonly known by its former name of Dulles International Airport , by its airport code of IAD , or simply as Dulles Airport. The world's fastest growing airport is one of three major airports serving the Washington–Baltimore metropolitan area, a very busy international airport.

The airport's terminal complex consists of the Main Terminal (which includes four of the original gates, known as the "Z" Gates ), and two parallel midfield terminal buildings: Concourses A/B and Concourses C/D. The entire terminal complex has a total of 139 gates – 123 of which have jetways and 16 of which are hardstand locations.

The main building at Dulles Airport is famous for its unique design, created by Eero Saarinen.

It is the largest and busiest airport in the Washington area. Each year, over 23 million passengers use Dulles. More than 60,000 people fly out of Dulles daily to over 125 places around the world. Since opening on November 17, 1962, Dulles grew from serving over 54,800 travelers in its first year to over 23 million per year today.
