The monastery is under threat. The bridges are the only defense. If they fall, not only is the village lost, but entire worlds might fail.

For at the heart of the monastery are the Doors of Netherwhere  — mystical portals to realms beyond our own. As the Captain of the temple’s modest guard, it is your duty to prepare the village, gather allies, and hold the line.

The Doors to Netherwhere is a rogue-like RPG built around a simple but demanding loop: prepare your defenses, organize your troops, and defend against countless dire foes. Each run asks you to make difficult choices with limited time and resources. Some allies are willing to fight, others are uncertain, and some may appear useless until the right moment reveals their true value.

A soldier may be more helpful crafting arrows than standing on the front line. The monks may not support you if they question your piety.. A farmer could harvest healing herbs from his field or help build defenses. Even the blacksmith must be considered carefully: is her strength more valuable in battle or at the forge?

Every decision matters, and each one shapes the outcome of your defense.

And then there are the Doors. Mysterious. Foreboding. Nobody has crossed them in a generation. Nobody knows what waits beyond. But when all else fails, when defenses falter, you may have no choice but to venture beyond?

Combat is turn-based and tactical, with the focus on defending the temple. Positioning your parties on the bridges to hold back waves of enemies. If they break through, the monastery is lost, and the run ends.

Inspired by the unforgettable Esper Defense in Final Fantasy VI, The Doors to Netherwhere captures the feeling of a last stand, where preparation, planning, and hard choices mean everything.
