After the events of Hastings, Europe was plunged into an apocalypse of blood. Humanity soon reached a crossroads: some, the uninfected, remained human and took refuge within vast fortified city-states; others, stricken by the infection, were exiled to the countryside, the pastures, and the forests, where they began to mutate into beings later classified as the Little Folk.

In the shadow of a new era, a dreadful enemy stirred in the West, poised to sweep across the continent and bring an end to the story of Mankind itself.

In the Year of Our Lord 1731, Amanda Katherine Hohenzollern , heir to the family that had ruled Ulma for nearly eight centuries, was called to the regency of the city to confront the immense trials that awaited, hidden behind a curtain of darkness and silence.
