Description
"An accidental air hockey simulator in a petri dish"
In Super Chaos is a roguelite where everything depends on everything else, the upgrades are all very strange and packed with side effects and the player can be customized with extreme mutations that can be combined with each other. An inversion of the typical survivors formula that focuses on speed and emergence.
The gameplay is deceptively simple
You dash manually and attack automatically
You select mutations before every run and pick upgrades before every level
You have to survive waves of very fast and strange enemies
Strange features
There are no +damage/+health/etc. upgrades, every upgrade is instead unusual
A giant Rock that pinballs enemies around
The arena sometimes pulses and shrinks... oh and there is an upgrade that allows you to control its shrinking?
Wisp weapons that chaotically wander around and apply Hex to enemies
Hex makes enemies insane... and burns them while granting you lifesteal
Blasts blast away enemies and smash them into walls for extra damage... and make enemies bounce from the walls back into you, oops
Rifts Pull in enemies and then Implode... also apply Rift Armor to the player inside that protects you but blocks healing
Antihex makes enemies slow and vulnerable to Wall/Rock hits, comes from Blasts and Rifts
Annihilation provides lots of effects when Hex and Antihex cancel each other
And all of this can be upgraded or mutated, like giving Rifts and ability to Push and apply insane amounts of Hex on specific conditions
Or making enemies really love walls for some reason when under Hex
A mutation that allows you to stay immortal as long as you walk on... corpses?
You can sacrifice the dash for an ability to pull every enemy into yourself
A mutation that halts every enemy on player being hit and applies damage that scales with previous enemy velocity
Enemies fall asleep when they can't see you... but you need upgrades/mutations for invisibility
Eldritch visuals and sounds... vroom-vroom
It's weird, or, as reviews call it, "unique"
Created by accident in an unorthodox custom engine with assetless graphics... yes, the water is simulated on the GPU
