Overview

"2D Animation Editor" is a dedicated editor for MV-compatible 2D animations in RPG Maker MZ. Its timeline, real-time preview, and 176 bundled presets let you efficiently create attack effects, skill effects, and cinematic flourishes. It also supports multi-directional editing of "Character Animation" — an animation format that reflects the equipped weapon's icon and follows the character's facing direction.

Visual Timeline × Real-time Preview

A 4-track timeline manages frames / cells / SE / flashes on a single screen. Expand a cell row and per-frame X / Y / Scale / Rotation / Opacity / Blend appear piano-roll style. Drag, scale, or rotate on the preview and the values update instantly.

Bulk Operations for Fast Iteration

Interpolate / Bulk Set / Shift / Copy from Previous Frame all included. Workflows like "set only the first and last frames of the animation and let interpolation fill in the rest" become one-shot operations.

176 Bundled Presets

Key Feature: Character Animation

An animation mode not available in stock RPG Maker MZ — the visuals change based on the target being animated.

  • Manage 3 directions (Down / Left / Up) as one group (right is auto-mirrored from left)

  • Auto-generate Left and Up from Down

  • Equipped weapon and shield icons appear automatically (with Dual Wield: primary weapon on the right hand, secondary weapon or shield on the left)

  • Bundled CharacterAnimation.js plugin plays it back with a single command

* If you only use this tool as a regular MV animation editor, the plugin is not required.
