Description
Havenreach: Last Refuge is a turn-based survival strategy game designed to satisfy the itch for 4X gameplay while emphasizing survival through tight resource management as you claim land and defend your borders. It features a low learning curve, streamlined yet meaningful mechanics, and playthroughs that can be completed in a single sitting.
This game was born from a desire to recapture the thrill of 4X strategy without the steep time investment, and to offer the tension of RTS games without the exhausting pace. It’s for players who crave thoughtful decisions, not overwhelming complexity. A game you can enjoy after a long day.
The World
You arrive as a weary wanderer, having fled a tyrant’s rule and crossed a wilderness filled with loss. Now, in a fertile but contested land, you must guide your few remaining kinsmen to build, survive, and thrive even as other desperate survivors fight for the same refuge.
What the game offers:
Tile by tile expansion and building construction
Gather resources either from natural resources or directly from your enemies
Each tile type only allows specific buildings so plan ahead as you maximize adjacency bonuses
Forest and mountains are impassable, and act as natural defense so expand fast with risk or grow at your little nook
Conquer enemy territories peacefully through border pressure and claim their buildings one by one
Build cohesively and upgrade your buildings to increase your control over your land to resist border pressure
Strategize with incomplete information in an RTS-like fog of war where you only know what you last saw
Multiple victory conditions to support different strategies
Play around with map size, terrain distribution, and number of AIs to spice things up
A Tense, Bittersweet Game of Survival
Havenreach: Last Refuge is designed for short, emotionally charged playthroughs. A full run can be completed in a few hours, but every session offers new map, new decisions, and new stories you create. A story of your survival... at what cost.
