Description
Light Up the Dark is a colony survival sim set in a dark world filled with unseen horrors. Collect, build, automate, research techs, and explore the procedural map. Manage three classes of colonists; keep them sane, or make use of their insanity. Solve endless interesting problems, your way.
Survive Against the Darkness
There is no natural light source in this pitch-black world. And staying in darkness means death. To survive, build artificial lights and gather the necessary resources to keep them running. Research new technologies to improve them or to innovate more powerful light sources.
Deep and Complex Trait System
Their experiences shape your colonists. Their lifestyle, routine, euphoric moments, or traumas give them various traits. Traits can be a blessing or a curse; sometimes, this is just a matter of perspective, though not always.
Manage Three Classes of Colonists
There are three classes of colonists: Worker, Craftsman, and Artificer. They have different skills, strengths, weaknesses, and preferences. You must find ways to ensure harmony among them.
Endless Problems and Many Ways to Solve Them
Wide variety of resources: Plenty of resources to collect, produce, or consume. To process resources use miscellaneous skills such as mining, crafting, farming, ranching, alchemy, engineering, and various energy sources such as steam, combustion, geothermal, and electric.
Advanced logistics: Improve your logistic network with advanced technology like automatons, zeppelins, and portals.
Dark powers: Find ways to harness the power of the Void, the essence of the thick, suffocating darkness surrounding your base. However, the cost may be dire for such an attempt.
Insanity mechanics: Adopt a strategy to deal with mental instability, especially for the criminally insane. Lock them up, try risky cures, or just let them wander around doing their things, such as arson, murder, suicide, or exhibitionism.
Replayability: Play your way. Various strategies, playstyles, and even roleplaying are possible. Together with a procedurally generated map, and complex game mechanics, this means an insanely replayable game.
