Description
Incidente em Varginha Remastered is a modernized edition of the Brazilian classic originally released in 1998. Recognized as the first FPS developed in Brazil, the game remains a landmark in the country's gaming history.
You play as an ordinary civilian who witnesses the emergency landing of an extraterrestrial spacecraft. From that moment on, you become the target of U.S. military agents determined to seize the craft and cover up the incident at any cost. Early in the story, you encounter one of the surviving alien crew members who, through an advanced communication device, assigns you the mission of recovering the captured ship. To accomplish this, you will travel through several well-known locations across Brazil, following clues that reveal the whereabouts of the alien technology.
The gameplay of Incidente em Varginha Remastered draws inspiration from classic 90s “boomer-shooters,” featuring straightforward FPS controls and a strong focus on resource management. Ammunition, health, and equipment must be carefully conserved in order to progress. Many situations allow for a stealthy approach, enabling you to avoid unnecessary conflict, preserve resources, and prevent collateral harm to civilians caught in the crossfire.
The game’s narrative is inspired by elements of the well-known UFO incident that took place in Varginha (Minas Gerais), Brazil, in 1996, an event that remains one of the most famous cases of its kind in the country.
This remastered edition improves upon the limitations of the original engine, offering:
Updated 3D graphics
Support for modern resolutions and widescreen formats
More precise and responsive controls
Increased stability and performance
The game also includes exclusive making-of material, as well as development insights regarding its canceled sequel, “Incidente em Varginha 2 – Shadows of Truth.”
