September 2026. The Event has left the world around you in pieces. Following the death of your wife, Tridha, and your daughter, Runu, you've retreated into the deep, rain-drowned forests of Jharkhand, India. Your only companions are your rusty shotgun, a rotting wood axe, a fishing rod, a box of matches, a compass, a pack of cards, and an old valve radio. You dream of the desert, where the news never reached. But you're not in the desert. You're here. This is your hermitage. Survive.

Gameplay

To quell your hunger, you need protein. There are creatures out there in the woods. There's fish in the lake behind your cabin. Carry your kill back to the cabin and cook it over the fire. Be wary – for the meat is tainted, fish is limited, and the creatures may not be what they seem. To quench your thirst, drink from the lake's deep, black waters.

The rotting fruits you may find lying around nearby can only do so much to ease some of the wrongness. Don't bet your life on it.

The fire is dying. Chop wood using your trusty axe and feed it. There's a Kali mask nailed to a tree nearby. She watches over you. Light a lamp for her if you please. Don't desecrate her.

Play a hand of Rang Milanti, if you remember how to. Listen to the radio breathe static, until it does not. Don't wander too far from your cabin. Your compass might betray you, or you might encounter memories you're not prepared to revisit.
