The Franco-Prussian War Campaign
Command either France or the North German Confederation, and its allies. In the early months of the war, the Germans were able to achieve several significant victories, including the Battles of Wissembourg, Mars-la-Tour, and Sedan. These victories allowed the Germans to capture several key cities, including Metz and Nancy, and to besiege the French capital of Paris. The Siege of Paris began in September 1870, the city was heavily fortified and the French were able to hold out against the Prussian forces for four months until the garrison finally surrendered in January 1871.
