Breathe of the Abyss
Breathe of the Abyss is a short first-person psychological horror game about descending into the same stretch of ocean again and again.
Each dive becomes slightly different, revealing subtle anomalies and fragmented memories that point toward a truth buried beneath the waves.
Loop-based Descent
Begin each cycle at shallow depth and descend toward a silent, abandoned platform located 50 meters below.
When your oxygen runs out, you return to the starting point—only to realize that something in the environment has changed.
Anomalies and Environmental Clues
Each loop introduces new disturbances in the world, such as:
• Unnatural behavior in marine life
• Objects appearing where they should not be
• Distorted audio and shifting light sources
• Brief flashes of something familiar
These changes gradually form a pattern for the player to interpret.
Atmospheric Psychological Horror
The game contains no jump scares.
Fear comes from:
• Deep-sea pressure and isolation
• Limited oxygen and controlled breathing
• Familiar spaces becoming subtly incorrect
• The discomfort of repetition with variation
Fragmented Memory Moments
Some cycles may fracture into brief, distorted sequences that resemble pieces of the protagonist’s past.
These moments provide hints toward understanding the situation without fully revealing the truth.
Short Narrative Experience
• Demo length: approximately 10–20 minutes
• Full game length: approximately 30–60 minutes
Designed as a focused, atmospheric experience that can be completed in a single sitting.
What You Will Encounter
