Description
Play tarot cards onto a board in the Circles of Hell. Surround enemy cards to conquer them. The enemy can do the same, and a single wrong placement can hand them enough territory to end your run.
Fight with your tarot deck: play Minor Arcana on the board to conquer its cells, and cast Major Arcana as spells.
Trap enemy cards between yours on a row, column or diagonal to trigger a Card Clash: the stronger side wins, and the losing cards flip to the winner's side, as in Triple Triad and Othello. One well-placed card can swing the whole board.
When every cell is filled, whoever holds more ground is the winner.
Between battles you build your board by placing effects (Canons) on it, each one firing when a card lands on its cell: a power boost, a copy of the card you played on the next cell, or a whole column shoved upward. You build your kit on the way down: the cards you carry, the Canons you place, the relics you choose.
Enemies bring their own Canons too, and every Circle has a Circle effect that changes the board: mist in Limbo, digestion in Gluttony, lava swallowing the edges in Heresy.
Each run starts by calling on an archetype (Genius): Charon, Minos, Medusa and six more, each with its own deck and starting kit.
Flood the board with cheap cards, steal the enemy's cards, raise a cell's value and hold it, or deny the enemy's plays until it's too late for them.
Pick one Circle from each tier of Hell and walk its map: battles, elites and a guardian at the end. Vendors along the way rework your tarot deck to fit your build.
Lucifer waits at the bottom, but he may not be the one you came for. Find out who corrupted Hell and restore the divine order.
