Historical Background ​

From 1552 to 1565 during the Ming Dynasty's Jiajing era, Japan was entrenched in the civil war–ridden Sengoku (Warring States) period. This prolonged conflict created a vast number of masterless samurai (rōnin) and drove local daimyō (feudal lords) to seek wealth by sponsoring coastal raids. This armed force merged with the smuggling networks flourishing along China's southeastern coast—a direct result of the Ming court's rigid maritime prohibition policies. Together, these factors culminated in the severe Wokou (Japanese pirate) crises that plagued the Jiajing reign.

Gameplay ​

Based on the historical Wokou conflicts along the southeast coast during the Ming Jiajing era, we've created a tower defense game that lets you experience this chapter of history. In the game, you can:

• Deploy and upgrade soldiers to build your defense. Enhance their abilities to defeat stronger and greater numbers of enemies.

• Utilize a variety of unit types to create different defensive strategies.

• Earn Stars by completing levels to unlock stronger units with unique traits.

• Different unit combinations can form different Tactical Formations, each providing unique bonuses to enhance combat effectiveness.

• Gain experience and skill points from battling the Wokou to enhance your own forces or weaken the enemy, steadily fortifying your line.

• Face a wide variety of foes, and encounter new, powerful enemies as you progress through the levels.

• Use Commander-exclusive abilities to turn the tide of battle at critical moments.

• Take on numerous campaign levels, fighting back against the pirate raids across the lands of Ming China.
