The single-seatted fighter F4U-4, with superior speed and altitude performance, was developed in the mid-1940s. Deliveries of the new fighter began in February 1945 and continued until 1947. Fighters of this modification participated in combat operations during the final stages of World War II in 1945. Like other American "Corsairs," the F4U-4 remained in service with the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps until the mid-1950s, after which they were replaced by jet aircraft.

The F4U-4 is capable of reaching a maximum speed of over 700 km/h at an altitude of 9,000 meters, making it one of the fastest planes in the game. The fighter is armed with six 12.7-mm Browning machine guns, and 100, 250, 500, and 1000-pound bombs, as well as HVAR rockets.
